A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §16-6-17a, relating
to prohibiting employees at restaurants from handling drinking
vessels by touching on or near the vessel's brim.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §16-6-17a, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 6. HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS.
§16-6-17a. Restaurant employees handling of drinking vessels.
Every person, firm or corporation engaged in conducting a
restaurant shall require all persons employed thereby who handle
cups, mugs, bottles, drinking glasses or other drinking vessels in
which the liquid contents are intended for consumption by any
customer or patron to not make any physical contact on or near the brim of the cup, mug, bottle, drinking glass or other drinking
vessel upon which the customer's or patron's lips or mouth is
expected to physically touch in order to drink the contents.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit employees at
restaurants from handling drinking vessels by physically handling
the drinking vessels on or near the vessel's brim.
